I began teaching in Washington D.C., taught in Germany, and have spent thirty years in various Arlington Public schools. I started teaching inspired by the work of educator Paulo Freire, and continue to be inspired by educators and researchers:  Carol Tomlinson, Joe Renzulli and Sally Reis, Tony Wagner, Carol Dweck, Dan Rothstein, and Luz Santana, and Jo Boaler. I have a B.A. from the College of William and Mary, a Masters Degree from the University of New Mexico. My Gifted Endorsement is from the University of Virginia. I have attended Confratute the Gifted Summer Camp for Teachers at the University of Connecticut. Received “Gifted Teacher of the Year from Virginia Association of the Gifted in 2018 for Region III.” Selected to teach at the Universidad de Cundinamarca as a Fulbright Distinguished Short Term Teacher in Colombia, South America in 2019.

Arlington Public Schools is dedicated to maximizing the strengths and potential of all students so they may become self-confident, well-rounded, responsible and productive citizens. Many gifted students need opportunities to think abstractly, work at various rates and levels of complexity, and pursue tasks independently. In addition, students eligible for gifted services need opportunities to learn with others of like abilities, as well as opportunities to develop social relationships with others of all abilities.
